Agnes Bowen

Agnes "Aggie" Irene Bowen, age 89, of Homeworth, died at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at St. Luke's Lutheran Community in N. Canton.
She was born April 8, 1918 in Wytheville, Virginia, to Sidney R. and Calla B. Umberger.
Mrs. Bowen was a 1936 graduate of Wytheville High School and was employed by Alliance Manufacturing and later retired from Mt. Union College where she served as a bookkeeper for over twenty years.
She was an active member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church since 1938 and served as Nursery Sunday School Teacher, Church Treasurer and was instrumental in starting the church grief support ministry.
Survivors include her daughter Janet L. (Patrick) Lauer of Louisville; and sister, Selma R. Kennedy of Alliance and also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Bowen, whom she married January 18, 1957, and who died in 1987; brother, Lawrence L. Umberger; and sister, C. Lucile Carman and two nephews.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Frank Gross, Jr. officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
