Alda B. Williamson, age 87, of Alliance, passed away at 12:27 p.m. Monday, September 26, 2011 at Bel-Air Care Center.
She was born February 24, 1924 in Alliance, Ohio to Benjamin and Ida (Pauli) Snode.
A graduate of Alliance High School, Alda graduated from Canton Business College after taking classes for bookkeeping. She was a co-founder of Tannenhauf Golf Course and worked in the family business for many years.
A life member of Science Hill Community Church, Alda was a former member of Alliance Quota Club, Modern Homemakers, and Christian Women's Association.
She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and spending time with her family and at the golf course.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd Williamson, whom she married March 9, 1950; sons, James (Lisa) Williamson of Sarasota, Florida, and Thomas (Jill) Williamson, of Alliance; three grandchildren, Alexandra, Austin, and Tyler; brother, Melvin "Bummie" (Marilyn) Snode of Alliance; sister-in-law, Carolyn Snode of Alliance; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Kenneth Snode, and sisters-in-law, Jan Snode and Ruth Snode.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Science Hill Community Church, 12316 Beeson St. A private family committal service will be held on Friday at Marlboro Cemetery, with Pastor Jonathon Truax officiating.
