Alice Byers, age 88, of Atwater, Ohio, died at 1:00 a.m., December 25, 2007, at St. Luke's Lutheran Home in N. Canton, Ohio.
Mrs. Byers was born December 10, 1919, to John Deane and Daisy (Griffin) Hamilton in Akron, Ohio and lived in Kent and Stow, and then moved to Portage County in 1968.
She was a Stow High School and Hammel-Actual School graduate, loved to golf and was a member of Red Hot Mamas Society of Randolph.
Mrs. Byers is survived by her son, John (Lois) Byers of Randolph; daughter, Martha Roussat of Rootstown; grandsons, John (Tina) Byers, Matthew Byers, Paul Byers, Christopher (Stephanie) Byers, John Paul (Jennifer) Roussat and Maxwell Roussat; six great-grandchildren and one brother, Milton Hamilton of Rootstown, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Mathias Byers, whom she married March 5, 1943 and who died February 1, 1999; and four brothers.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2007 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Lewis of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church officiating. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2007 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna.
