Alice (Kelty) Goldinger, age 92, of Alliance, passed away at 9:33 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Alliance Community Hospital.
Even though she will be sadly missed, her family is thankful for her loving, gracious life, and they rejoice that she has an eternal home with the Lord.
Alice was born April 26, 1923, in Leechburg, Pennsylvania, to Lester and Lottie (Stancliffe) Myers and has resided in Alliance since 2002.
Alice was a former member of Poland United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, was an officer in United Methodist Women and served as chairman of the church's administrative board.
She taught private piano lessons for eight years; was a member of the Garden Club; past president of The Youngstown Area Federation of Women's Clubs and a current member of Past Officers Club for the organization. She was active in Campfire Girls programs in which her two daughters participated.
During her married life of 32 years with Tod A. Kelty, Jr., Alice assisted with the family printing business "Kelty Printers" by proofing, in addition to taking printing orders and being the main phone contact for customers.
In 2002, she moved to Alliance and became a member of Union Avenue United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Arts & Altar Guild. She was past president of Alliance Music Study Club and a volunteer for the Alliance Community Concert Association. As a member of the Alliance Womans Club, she enjoyed playing bridge with her "Bridge Buddies". She was a faithful member of the Alliance Republican Club.
She attended Carnegie-Melon University to be trained as a civilian employee of the United States Army-Air Force during the Second World War, eventually being transferred to Youngstown, Ohio, where she met Tod, her future husband. Tod passed away at an early age. Alice rekindled a friendship with Bill Goldinger, who had been a high school sweetheart many years ago, but had never married. They enjoyed a happy married life together for 28 years before Bill passed away in 2003.
All that Alice did and all that she loved was underpinned by her Christian faith. Although she didn't often speak publicly of her beliefs, she lived them in her everyday interaction with others.
She is survived by her daughters, Joyce E. (James) Lackey of Alliance and Beverly J. (Bill) Ratajak of Scio, Oregon; grandson, Tod (Kris) Lackey; two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Ben Lackey; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her two husbands, Tod Arthur Kelty and William A. Goldinger; Alice is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Grace Knappenberger; and a brother, Atlee Myers.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2016, at Union Avenue United Methodist Church with Pastor Coralee Cox and Major Charles Kelly co-officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Poland Riverside Cemetery in Poland, Ohio.
