Alice Mae Holder passed from this life into the arms of Jesus, on May 16, 2016, at the age of 92. She was a resident of Crandall Medical Center and Copeland Oaks in Sebring, Ohio, and formerly of North Canton, Ohio. She was born to John Alfred and Mary Eloise Tarvin on July 28, 1923. She attended Mount Union College before becoming a teacher, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kent State's School of Education in 1962. Alice Mae taught Sunday school and Bible school for 60 years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Alliance and in Canton, and a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church in North Canton. She was an elementary teacher for 25 years, retiring from Warstler School in Plain Township in 1982. Her children and grandchildren remember her as their loving and patient mother and grandmother and as one who lived her faith in Christ Jesus Our Savior. Friends may know her as one who loved to sew and crochet, as a quilter, a golfer, a bridge player, a member of American Baptist Women and Helping Hands, an avid reader of The Bible, a flower gardener, a poet, a Sunday school teacher, a grade school teacher, and a faithful prayer warrior. She is survived by her eldest son, Eric (Linda) Holder of Temperance, Michigan; her daughter, Janice (Martin) Horning of Alliance, Ohio; and daughter-in-law, Trudy Holder of Summerville, South Carolina; grandchildren, Bonnie Holder, Michael (Lori) Holder, Jill (Chip) Bennett, Hether (Patrick) Enzor, Jennifer (Ed) Rowan, Hank Holder, Matthew (Candice) Horning, and Katie Horning (Eric Sams); and great-grandchildren, Christopher and Dawson Unger, Addison Rowan, Madison DuRant, Banks Enzor, and Rylee, Avery Mae, Corie and Andrew Horning. She is also survived by her former husband, Warren (Carol) Holder, as well as nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Bill and Jack Tarvin and sister, Virginia Munn; her youngest son, Douglas Alan Holder; and her dear niece, Debbie Marrelli. Her family is indebted to all the people who cared for her so lovingly in Memory Lane at Crandall Medical Center.
