Alton T. Wilhelm, age 94, of Alliance, passed away at 4 p.m., Sunday, February 2, 2014, at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born July 5, 1919, in Randolph, Ohio, to Royce and Edith (Walker) Wilhelm.
Alton was a graduate of Randolph High School in the Class of 1938. He worked for Babcock and Wilcox Company for 22 years and later retired from Teledyne Rubber Company in Hartville in 1985. He was a member of the Conrad Masonic Lodge #271 of Alliance and the United Steel Workers Union.
Alton was a United States Navy Veteran having served in World War II.
He enjoyed traveling and camping.
Survivors include his sons, Gary T. (Linda) Wilhelm of Louisville and David C. Wilhelm of Alliance; son-in-law, Dieter Teutsch of Maximo; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Wilhelm and sister, Ostie Wilhelm, both of Hartville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary L. Wilhelm, whom he married August 17, 1941 and who died January 27, 2009; a daughter, Carol Teutsch; and a daughter-in-law, Dora Wilhelm.
Services will be held at noon Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Megan D. Elliott officiating. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. till noon prior to the service with a Masonic service to be held at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
