Armada F. Ray, age 92, of Alliance, passed away at 3:42 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2014, at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born July 18, 1922, in Homeworth, Ohio, to Kenneth and Hattie (Oyster) Heestand.
A member of Silver Park Church of Christ for 63 years, Mrs. Ray taught bible class for 40 years. She enjoyed gardening, especially growing flowers and roses.
Survivors include daughters; Shirley Matz of Ashland, Judy Guidebeck of Paw Paw, Michigan, and Sue Gatien of Canton; sons, Gilbert Ray of Loganville, GA, Gary Ray of Burnsville, NC and David Ray of San Clemente, CA; sister, Wanda Williams of Alliance; a brother, Elden Heestand of N. Georgetown, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wade G. Ray, whom she married August 26, 1939, and who died November 14, 2013; infant son, Hal Ray in 1950; two brothers, Clay and Dwaine Heestand, an infant brother; grandson, Dustin Ray; and an infant great-grandson.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Cassaday Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park at a later date.
