Arnold D. Hirvela, age 90, passed away peacefully at home on November 4, 2020.
He was born on June 19, 1930 to Arnold and Marie (Niska) Hirvela.
Arnold attended the University of Detroit and obtained a bachelor’s of Civil Engineering that he put to use as the owner of Arnold D. Hirvela Professional Engineers. He retired in 1992. Arnold also served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 and fought in the Korean War.
Arnold was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where he was a trustee, usher and was on the finance board and stewardship committee. He was also a member of Wranglers, Filabusters and Rotary where he was a founding member of the Rotary Flag Project. Arnold served on several boards including the YMCA, the Senior Citizens and Shade Tree Commission Property Maintenance. He also served his community on the Zoning Board of Appeals and was a member of the Airport Commission. Arnold also had an interest in magic and was an amateur magician.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Corrine (Cook) Hirvela, whom he married September 14, 1957; his children, Diane Geiger of Alliance, Emery Hirvela and Scott Hirvela both of Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, David and Harold Hirvela.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
