Arthur E. Mallory, Jr., age 99, of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Alliance, passed away peacefully at 12:50 a.m., Sunday, June 15, 2014, at his home.
He was born October 12, 1914, in Avalon, Pennsylvania, to Arthur E. Sr., and Maude Viola (Davidson) Mallory.
Arthur was a 1933 graduate of Alliance High School and also attended Miami University.
Employed at Babcock and Wilcox Tubular Division for 34 years, Arthur retired in March of 1977 as an administrative assistant to the plant manager.
He was a member of the First Christian Church where he was Elder Emeritus, Alliance Kiwanis Club where he served as president from 1972-1973, BPO Elks No. 467, American Legion Post No. 166, and past president of "Tired Men's" Golf league at Westville Lake.
He was a WWII veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Pacific Theater.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, David L. (Nancy) Mallory of Louisville, KY; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn M. (Jim) Skovran of Knoxville, TN, with whom he made his home; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 59 years, Dorothy E. (Ayers) Mallory whom he married September 30, 1940 at First Christian Church; son, Brian E. Mallory and three sisters, Jean Mallory, Bettie Norton and Hazel Bica.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Sue DeHoff officiating. Friends may call beginning one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
