Barbara A. Wiggs, age 63, of Atwater, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Canterbury Villa in Alliance.
She was born January 27, 1947 in Ravenna, Ohio to Joseph and Helen (Seckel) Dobrilovic.
Barb graduated in 1965 from Atwater High School, and worked for eighteen years for the Portage County Veterans Service; three years in the front office and fifteen years as a Veterans Benefits Counselor.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mogadore, Ohio.
Barb was an Accredited Representative of the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Vietnam Veterans of America, Disabled American Veterans, AmVets, and Jewish War Veterans.
She was also a member of AVVA Chapter 157 of Alliance, and Dancing Country, a Northeast Ohio Dance Club. Barb enjoyed planting and tending her many flower gardens.
Barb's passion for thirty years was being a Veterans Advocate, as a volunteer and as a profession. Her professional status changed many lives.
Survivors include her husband, Charles R. Wiggs, whom she married September 2, 1967; son, Scott (Kim) Wiggs of Heath, Ohio; sister, Theresa (Lou) Casey of San Angelo, Texas; mother-in-law, Lena Wiggs of Ravenna; and brother-in-law, Larry (Lorraine) Wiggs of Greenville, South Carolina.
Barb enjoyed all her favorite nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Brian Wiggs.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at Atwater Cemetery.
