Barbara J. Downs, age 79, of Alliance, passed away at 3:25 a.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at Canterbury Villa.
She was born July 31, 1935, in Sebring, Ohio, to Willis and Lillian (Garloch) Zurbrurt and had been a lifetime area resident.
Barbara was a member of Maranatha Church of God, where she especially enjoyed playing the organ. She also attended the Alliance Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her sisters-in-law, Martha Davis of Sun City, Arizona and Alice Downs of Louisville; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle D. Downs whom she married January 1, 1957 and who died January 13, 2007; stepparents, Wilmer and Lillian Kelly; and a brother, David E. Kelly.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Glen Davidson officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Beechwood Cemetery.
