Barbara Ann Greavu

Barbara Ann Greavu, age 80, passed away on July 29, 2024. 

She was born on June 15, 1944, in Warren, Ohio to Jerome Francis and Elizabeth Ann (Savo) Slanina.

Barbara graduated from Niles McKinley High School and attended The University of Akron. She worked with the Mental Health Association of Stark County and was a Motivational Public Speaker. Barbara was also the director of senior programing at the Canton YMCA. She was a member of St. George Byzantine Catholic Church. 

Barbara was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who was proud of her Eastern European culture and celebrated it often. She was an amazing baker and cook, an avid reader, and enjoyed doing word searches and puzzles. Barbara loved to travel both internationally and domestically with her husband, including spending their winters in Florida. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years, Robert; her daughter, Renee Greavu; son, Jason (Janice) Greavu; grandchildren, Audra and Emma Greavu; two brothers; and one sister. 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service with Latin and Byzantine Rites will be held at St. George Byzantine Catholic Church on Thursday, August 1st at 10:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
