Barbara L. Howell, age 79, of Alliance, died peacefully surrounded by her family at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born April 26, 1929 in Brockton, Massachusetts to Henry A. and Blanche (Beal) Baker.
A graduate of Bayside High School, and Hofstra University, Mrs. Howell was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
She was a prolific writer who wrote to pen pals world-wide as she was able to correspond in three languages: English, Spanish, and French. She was very artistic, developing her art in writing poetry, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and weaving rugs. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her dogs, all of whom she loved.
Survivors include her six children: Wayne S. (Elizabeth A.) Howell of Austinburg, Oh, Ronald W. (Lynoda) Howell of Richmond Ky, Paul A. Howell of Redding, Ca., Charles O. Howell of Redding, Ca., Nancy S. (Gregory A.) Woltz of Oakville, Pa., and Rebecca L. (Kevin Murrey) Howell of Redding, Ca.; grandchildren, Wayne Jr., Morgan, Matthew, Michael, Bryson, Terron, Coen, Gregg, Amber, and Lakea; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Elijah, Nicole, Martez, Amber and Lindsey; and an uncle, Ralph Beal, of Maine.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Karin Himsteadt officiating. Friends may call thirty minutes prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Louisville, Ohio.
