Beatrice F. Devers, age 93 of Alliance, died at 3:20 a.m. Dec. 14, 2005 at Crandall Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 28, 1912 in Paris, Ohio to George Leonard and Catherine (Stuckey) Starkey and was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Devers graduated from Louisville High School in 1931 and was a member of Robertsville Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crocheting, especially designing and making Teddy Bears for family and friends. Mrs. Devers made hundreds of garments for infants in underprivileged countries which were sent to Mission fields in continents around the world. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed sharing the books in her personal library with friends.
Survivors include her daughters, Virginia McFarlane of New Philadelphia, Florence Devers of Alliance, Erma Miller, of Alliance, Elizabeth (Bill) Phillips of Damascus, Martha (Magdaleno) Luna, of York, Pa.; her sons, Mervin (Donna) Devers of Cumberland, Kenneth (Linda) Devers of Buffalo, Ohio, Rolland (Barb) Devers of Warren, and Darrell Devers of Elberta, Alabama, one sister, Burdella Wenning of Louisville, eighteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond M. Devers, whom she married June 23, 1934 and who died March 14, 1997; five brothers, seven sisters, one grandson, Wayne Devers, and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Thomas Haight officiating, assisted by Chaplain David Parry. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Interment will be at Beechwood Cemetery.
