Benjamin W. McGaffick, age 69, of Alliance, died at 12:35 a.m. Thursday March 27, 2008 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born in Salem, Ohio March 4, 1939 to Carl W. and Bertha (Perkins) McGaffick and was a lifelong resident.
Benjamin was an equipment operator for the State of Ohio and retired September 30, 1996 after 32 years service.
He was a member of Alliance Baptist Temple, a Lexington Fire Department volunteer for 45 years, a Colonel with the Alliance Police Reserves for 47 years and a Smith Grange member for 26 years.
He is survived by his son, Benjamin Carl McGaffick of Alliance, three daughters, Bertha Irene Shafer of Sebring, Cindy Sue McGaffick of Alliance, and Peggy Helen Brown of Windham, one sister, Leota Mulinix of Alliance and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jessie F. (Donohoe) McGaffick whom he married April 25, 1963 and who died November 9, 2006 and a brother, Frank McGaffick.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Peters officiating. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters Last Call will be held at 5:30 p.m. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
