Bertha Ruth Simmons

Bertha Ruth Simmons, age 82, of Louisville passed away on November 5, 2021.

She was born on February 12, 1939 in Alliance to Robert Theodore Steinwender and Lois Elizabeth Bennington.

Ruth was a member of Theophilus Bible Church and Church of God.  She enjoyed sewing and making quilts, gardening and canning, but most of all, Ruth enjoyed taking care of her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, David (Debbie) Simmons Jr.; daughters, Ruth Ellen (John) Bridgewater, Carol Simmons, and Beth (Robert) Jordan; daughter-in-law, Penny Simmons; grandchildren Matthew, Christopher, Stephen, Ben, Kenny, Tim, Joshua, David, Robert Jr., Amanda, Jonathan, Zachariah, and Rebekah; Six great-grandchildren; and siblings Robert Steinwender Jr., Lois Bergman, and June Coss.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David Raymond Simmons, whom she married August 23, 1958 and who passed May 6, 2019; her sister Eloise Guarneri, and her son, Ernest Simmons.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.  Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
