Betty Jane Hartzell age 79 of Alliance died at her home at 12:55 p.m. Sunday November 30, 2003.
She was born March 20, 1924 in Alliance, Ohio to Harvey J. and Grace (Haines) Hively.
A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Hartzell attended Alliance High School and worked as a clerk at Rudolph's Grocery Store. She was a member of North Benton Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Hartzell is survived by two daughters, Judy Hartzell of Alliance, and Dorothy (J.Thomas) Johnson of Navarre, one son Randy (Janet) Hartzell, six grandchildren, Tracie Hartzell, Kasie Hartzell, Jessica (Adam) Grimes, Lee Haidet, Brooke Hartzell and Ryan Hartzell, three great-grandchildren, Thomas Hartzell, Daniel Grimes and Andrew Grimes, and two step-grandchildren, Anna and Will Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John F. Hartzell, whom she married Nov. 10, 1947, and who died March 17, 1995, one sister Thelma Moser and one brother Carl J. Hively.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday December 3, 2003 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. James N. Henkel of North Benton Presbyterian Church officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hartzell Cemetery.
