Betty J. (Kickel) Jones, age 88, of Alliance, passed away at 9:18 a.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at her home.
She was born April 17, 1925, in Alliance, Ohio, to Carl Kickel and Mildred (Talbot) Kickel.
Betty attended Alliance High School, and during WWII worked at American Steel and later at Alliance Manufacturing, United Co-Op, and McCaskey Register. Betty also worked with her late husband, Jim, at Atlas Welding and Stamping.
She was a member of Beechwood Christian Church, life member of the Elks, and member of DAV, American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles, and Order of Eastern Star.
Betty was an avid lifelong bowler, and had a great love of music and dancing.
She will be missed by her family including her daughter, Judith K. (George) Wayt of Alliance; two granddaughters, who Betty loved dearly, Jennifer Wayt of Girard, and Christine Wayt of North Canton; and one brother, Michael (Beverly) Burnett of Sebring.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Kickel; her mother, Mildred Burnett Kramer; step-father, Michael Burnett; husband, James T. Jones, whom she married August 27, 1941, and who died January 20, 2010; brother, Donald Burnett; sister, Barbara Tullis; and her beloved dog, Buddy.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Black officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. An Order of Eastern Star Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alliance Visiting Nurse Hospice Association, 885 S. Sawburg Rd. Alliance, Ohio 44601.
