Betty J. Rounds, age 82, of Alliance, passed away at 10:50 a.m., Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born December 28, 1931, in Oakland, Maryland, to Theodore Sherman and Edna Blanche (Reams) Cross.
Betty was a member of the Freeburg Church of the Brethren, a former member of Pine Grove Church of the Brethren in Oakland, Maryland, and a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Sebring. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and cooking. She especially loved taking care of her grandchildren.
Formerly employed with Liberty Heights Apartments until her retirement in 1992, Betty previously worked at Alliance Community Hospital and the former Roker Nursing Home as a nurse's aide.
Survivors include her sons, Rex Allen (Martha) Rounds and Boo (Tammy) Rounds; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one on the way; several nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Tammy Jo Ellsworth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ellis L. Rounds, whom she married September 4, 1948 and who died April 15, 2009; sister, Freda McNemar and brother, Junior Cross.
A private family service will be held. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
