Betty Shea

Betty Jane (Nease) Shea, age 86, of Alliance, died at 8:48 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Rose Lawn Terrace Rehab Center.
Betty was born to Glen and Lois (Perkins) Nease on June 15, 1924, in Maximo, Ohio.
She attended Maximo Public Schools and Alliance High School. She became the youngest appointed Postmaster in 1946, serving the Maximo Post Office for 38 years, retiring in 1984. She was active in the NAPUS (National Association of Postmasters in the United States) and NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees).
She loved to travel, play cards and bingo.
Left to cherish her memories is her brother, Glen Joseph Nease of Orlando, Florida; and dear and long-time friends: Jean Ruffin, Mae Hoover, Naomi Unkefer, Ed, (her dedicated caregiver) and Mary Crum.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John Shea who died in 1971.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Henry Henderson officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
