Betty Smith, age 78, of Alliance, was reunited with her husband Friday, September 3, 2021 at Aultman Hospital.
She was born August 12, 1943 in Hartville, Ohio to Dan C. and Alta (Hostetler) Schlabach.
Betty retired from the Inn at Belden after fifteen years of service as Head Baker. She was the founder and operated the Soup Kitchen and Spaghetti Dinners at Southside Church.
Betty was a member of the Church of God for forty years, and currently attended Damascus Friends Church to be with her family and grandchildren. Betty had a heart to serve others, and loved the Lord.
She will be forever loved and missed by her family, including her two sons, John (Mary) Smith, and Troy (Kendra) Smith; her daughter Holly (Cliff) Swonger; nineteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; siblings; Alta (Paul) Rohrer, John (Charlotte) Schlabach, Vern (Toni) Schlabach, Wayne (Priscilla) Schlabach, Clara Hostetler, and Chris Schlabach.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald E. Smith; whom she married November 9, 1968, and who died September 19, 2003; brothers, Eli, Calvin, Daniel Jr., and sister, Sara Hostetler.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Damascus Friends Church, 28857 Walnut St., Damascus, Ohio 44619, with Pastor Jesse Brunk officiating.
Family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
