Betty L. Souers Moulin, age 88 of Sebring, died at 5:45 a.m. Dec. 31, 2006 at Aultman Hospital.
She was born May 27, 1918 in Alliance, Ohio to Ralph Waldo and Clair Marie (Ward) Seitz and lived most of her life in Alliance.
A 1937 graduate of Alliance High School, Mrs. Moulin worked for 24 years for Alliance and Marlington Public Schools, as a cook at Alliance, and in maintenance for Marlington, retiring in 1987. She also worked for Alliance Manufacturing from 1950-1957.
A member of First Immanuel United Church of Christ, Betty was a member of Consistory and chairman of the Mission Board. She was a member of Carnation City Players, AARP #2630, Alliance Senior Citizens Center, recipient of Alliance Senior Citizen of the Year in 1995, volunteer for Mount Union College, and member of the Senior Citizen Chorus. Betty was also active in the development of the Slimak Shelter and served on the selection committee for Habitat for Humanity.
Survivors include her children, Dennis C. (Rusty) Souers of Columbus, Ohio and Ft. Myers, Fla., Cherene K. Schaffer of Alliance, and Majken L. Souers of Alliance; granddaughter, Julie (Shawn) Stephens of Alliance; great-granddaughter, Madilyne McMichael; great-grandsons, Draven and Gage Stephens; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James P. Souers, whom she married July 4, 1937, and who died in July 1963, sister, Bonnie Messenheimer, and step-brother, Charles Moore.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Neal Mann officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Slimak Shelter.
