Betty Riggenbach Thomas, 89 of Erie, Pennsylvania and formerly of Alliance, died Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at St. Mary's at Asbury Ridge in Erie.
She was born in Hannibal, Ohio on August 13, 1918, a daughter of the late John and Jesse Holpp Riggenbach.
She attended Hannibal High School and was a graduate of the Reynolds Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.
She was a former member of the Regina Coeli Catholic Church.
Betty enjoyed playing bridge and gardening.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James Thomas, M.D.; one brother John Riggenbach, Jr.; and two sisters, Helen Kish and Carrie Kotson.
She is survived by three sons, James Thomas, Jr., M.D. and his wife Patricia of Fairview, PA William Thomas and his wife Barbara, of Wyoming OH and Bruce Thomas, M.D. and his wife Nancye of Roanoke, VA; one sister, Virginia Weisman or Powhatan Point, OH and one brother Charles Riggenbach of Newark, OH; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Regina Coeli Catholic Church. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.
Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
