Boyd F. Webster, age 92, passed away on December 16, 2023.
He was born on October 31, 1931, in Bellview, PA, to Thomas and Bessie (Stroup) Webster.
Boyd graduated from Alliance High School in 1949. He was stationed in Austria while in the United States Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean War. Boyd married Jean (Carroll) Webster on March 29, 1957. He worked as a carpenter for 45 years until his retirement in 1986. Boyd then served the City of Alliance as a building inspector for five years.
He was a 60 plus year member of Christ United Methodist Church where he served on the board of trustees and as a Boy Scouts Troop 50 leader. Boyd also participated in the Big Brothers program, was a member of the Elks, the Alliance Lions Club and the American Legion. He received the Lion of the Year Award in 1982, Melvin E. Jones Award in 2003, the Mayors Senior Citizen Award in 2006, Citizen of the Year in 2011, and was Grand Parade Marshall in 2019.
He loved to fish, play tennis and ping pong, and travel. Boyd took his family on many adventures on what they lovingly started calling Boyd-Abouts. He always had an itinerary with every detail of the trip planned. Boyd was always known to have a quote to live by, these were referred to by his family as Boyd-Isms. There was never a dull moment with him around; he was always ready to provide trivia or a story from one of his many travels. His presence will be greatly missed.
"You need to have something to do, someone to love and something to look forward to."
