Burleigh B. Felger

Burleigh B. Felger, age 86, of Alliance, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Canterbury Villa of Alliance.
He was born January 8, 1932, in New Franklin, Ohio, to Edwin B. and Alta (Otto) Felger. Burleigh was the youngest of five children.
Burleigh was a 1950 graduate of Minerva High School and was drafted into the United States Army Infantry serving during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Alaska.
He married Marilyn Bixler, August 13, 1955, and built their home in Alliance in 1959, where Marilyn still lives.
After returning home from the Army he started his career in carpentry, working with his brothers at Felger Builders. He and his wife eventually became owners of Felger Construction and then built and remodeled dozens of homes (residential and commercial) in the Alliance, Minerva and surrounding areas. He is most proud of building his and his two children's homes.
Burleigh was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His family was very important to him. He coached and managed his son's baseball teams for 12 years and was very active in Hot Stove Baseball and an officer in the Alliance High School Booster Club. He loved his work, family and sports, and his years of traveling. They were fortunate to travel to Alaska, Hawaii and all over the United States. He loved New York City and the Broadway Shows.
Burleigh loved watching his sons games and was very involved in watching his daughters dance recitals, making scenery and floats, and very proud of his grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and served as an usher for many years. His other memberships included Ohio Carpenters Local Union 285, Stark County Parkinson's Association, Alliance Senior Center and also a life member of BPO Elks Lodge No. 467.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marilyn (Bixler) Felger whom he married August 13, 1955; son, Chris (Lesa) Felger of Alliance; daughter, Marcine (David) Supelak of Copley; three grandchildren, Paige Felger of New York City and Alliance, Zak and Luke Supelak, both of Copley; sister, Vesta "Sis" Wafler of Salem; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Howard, Harold "Sonny" and Carl Felger.
Private family services will be held.
