C. Ted Ermlich, age 90 of Alliance, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Friday, December 25, 2009 at Sterling House.
He was born July 7, 1919 in Elwood City, Pennsylvania to Gustave and Stella (Bacon) Ermlich. A graduate of Boardman High School, Ted received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1940 from Mount Union College.
Mr. Ermlich was the founder of the Ermlich Insurance Agency where he was a charter life underwriter.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maximo. Ted was a life member of the Million Dollar Roundtable, member of Alliance Rotary Club, Alliance Country Club, founder of the "M" Club at Mt. Union College, member of the Boardman High School Hall of Fame and Mt. Union College "M" Club Hall of Fame, and member of the Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce.
A U. S. Navy veteran, he served on the U.S.S. Beckham in the South Pacific during WWII.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Jean (Elliott) Jones Ermlich, whom he married Nov. 19, 1999; four daughters, Becky (Dale) Dillon of Alliance, Connie (Tom) Chakford of Hudson, Martha (James) Crookshank of Alliance, and Lynn (Philip) Francis of Alliance; son-in-law, Ron Grimes of Paris; twelve grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Betty Ermlich, his son, Jerry and daughter-in-law, Jane Ermlich, daughter, Anne Grimes, and brother Chester Ermlich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maximo, with Fr. Thomas Ungashick officiating. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Maximo.
