C. Orland Ruby, 90, of Sebring, Ohio, died on Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at Crandall Medical Center at Copeland Oaks.
Orland was born in Cambridge, Ohio on August 25, 1918 to Isaac N. Ruby and Pearl Moore Ruby. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Harry Ruby and Ivan Ruby, and his sister, Etha Hashman.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Corinne Blackburn Ruby, and their son Thomas O. (Mary Jo) Ruby of Gahanna, Ohio. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Vera Blackburn and Marsena Miller, and many nieces and nephews. He graduated from Byesville High School, Ohio Wesleyan University and Vanderbilt University Divinity School. An ordained United Methodist minister, Orland served churches in Bethesda, Tennessee, and Edison, Centerburg, New London, Alliance, East Liverpool and New Franklin, Ohio.
Services will be held at 12 Noon Monday, December 29, 2008 at Christ United Methodist Church, 470 E. Broadway St. Alliance. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, 75 S. Union Ave. Alliance, Ohio 44601. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery in Byesville, Ohio.
