Carl L. Bailey, loving husband, father, friend and pastor died quietly at his home on February 15, 2010. He was born November 24, 1926 in Cranston, Rhode Island.
The most important fact to know about Pastor Carl was that he was a loyal servant of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for nearly 50 years. As a very young man, Carl served his country in both WWII and the Korean War. In 1948, he met and married Louise Lussier and they were married for 46 years until her death in 1994. Pastor Bailey began his ministerial career at Blue Lake Baptist Church in Chipley, Florida where he was ordained in 1961. He graduated from Pastoral Training at Florida Baptist Theological College, Graceville, Florida in May of 1965. Over these many years he served churches in Chipley and Lake Park, Florida, St. Mary's, Pennsylvania and here in Alliance. Most recently he was the Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Wyndham. Pastor Bailey held Honorary Master's and Doctorate degrees from the Fundamental Baptist Theological Seminary. He was very active in the Southern Baptist convention during his career. Pastor Bailey was also Chaplain for both the Southern Baptist Convention and Ohio Disaster Relief Group.
Surviving Pastor Bailey are his sons, David Bailey and wife, Karen, Sunnyvale, California and Robert Bailey and wife, Diana of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Carl's loving wife of 15 years, Doris; and sister, Ruth Precourt, Providentce, RI. Also very special to Carl were his stepchildren, Cindy and Mike Dattilio, Charlene and Ed Farmer, Kathy and Paul McCoy, Tim and Rox Barnard, Jeff Barnard and Cyndi Schloeder. Carl was exceptionally proud of the 23 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren he and Doris shared. Carl will also be dearly missed by his two very special preacher companions for many years, Pastor Ed Tanley and Pastor Phil Cooper.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him, but, he is now receiving his reward for his fond and dedicated service to the work of the Lord.
