Carl John Hari, age 92, of Alliance died Monday, May 13, 2013 at Alliance Hospital. He was born in Alliance on December 10, 1920 to John A. and Bertha (Yaggi) Hari and except for a few years was a life resident of Alliance. He married Mary Jane Walter of Salem on her birthday and they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2007.
Mr. Hari graduated from Alliance High School in January 1939 and was a member of the Alliance High School Foundation.
Carl was employed by the Alliance Machine Company for 42 years as a machinist and inspector before transferring to the office-estimating department. He retired in August 1983.
Mr. Hari was a life member of the First Immanuel United Church of Christ in Alliance and was a member for over 60 years of Alliance B.P.O.E. Lodge #467.
He was a charter member and past president of the former Lake Park Knights Social Club.
During his life Carl loved the outdoors and all the activities it offered. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and the many wonderful family vacations spent on a beautiful lake in Canada. He also enjoyed sports both as a player and fan with baseball and fast pitch softball being his favorites. He was fortunate to have been on a few industrial league championship teams.
Carl and his wife enjoyed roller-skating and dancing. They both were part of the Big Band Era and loved to dance and listen to the great bands and their vocalists.
Carl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He cherished his life long friendships with a number of wonderful people. All will miss him.
His three children survive Mr. Hari, his son, Craig (Elizabeth) Hari of Medina and two daughters, Karla Hari-Bernard (Bruce) of Medina and Christine (John) Cardinal of Sebring.
Also surviving are his five grandchildren Megan Hari Sandver (Justin), Erin Hari (Esteban Hincapie), Joseph Cardinal, Corey and Christy Bernard. Many nieces and nephews survive him including nieces Lora Shank and Linda Shank Canonico.
Besides his parents, his wife Mary Walter Hari preceded him in death in May 2008. Also, Mr. Hari's sister, Irene (Moni) Shank McCoy passed away in 1990 and his nephew, Gilbert Shank in 2007.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Neal Mann officiating. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Private burial services will be held at a later date at Fairmount Memorial Park.
