Carl W. "Porky" Carlile, age 82 of Alliance, died at Alliance Community Hospital at 12:52 p.m. January 4, 2006.
He was born July 11, 1923 in Atwater, Ohio to Thomas H. and Elmira (Phillips) Carlile and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Carlile was employed as a millwright for American Steel Foundries until his retirement.
He was a former member of the American Legion Post 166 of Alliance. He enjoyed playing billiards and remembering downtown Alliance.
He was a U.S. Army W.W. II veteran, serving in Germany and Northern France and was the recipient of three bronze stars.
Survivors include one daughter, Diane (Frank) Long of Alliance; two sons, Thomas (Jean) Carlile of Beloit and Steve Carlile of Alliance; five grandchildren, Traci Besse,Tommy Carlile, Logan Thorpe, Zach Isaacs, and Danielle Thorpe; three great-grandsons, Chance Kungle, Alek Kungle and Todd Besse; one brother, James (Mary Ann) Carlile of Sebring; two step-daughters, Mary Thorpe of Alliance, and Lisa Isaacs of Alliance; and many nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one daughter, Susan Lynn Carlile, and one granddaughter, Sommer Long.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Sams officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
