Carl Weigel, Jr., age 81, of Sebring, formerly of Westlake, passed away at 6 p.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born July 13, 1933, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Carl Sr. and Margaret Rose (Rider) Weigel.
Carl earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri and his Masters of Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace College. He retired as an engineer with NASA Lewis Research Center in Cleveland.
Carl was a member of First Christian Church and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He served honorably as a communications specialist from 1952 to 1956.
An avid reader, he also enjoyed playing golf and cards, especially Pinochle. Carl was a friend of Bill W's for more than 20 years.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Madge D. (Barker) Weigel whom he married March 20, 1954; son, Carl Weigel III of Cleveland; daughter, Nancy S. (John) Petro of Cleveland; and five grandchildren, Rachel, Emily, C.J., Brian and Erin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015, at First Christian Church with Sue DeHoff officiating. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
