Carlos D. Wible, age 84 of Alliance, died at 9 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2005 at McCrea Manor Nursing Center.
He was born Feb. 4, 1921 in Sebring, Ohio to Clarence and Pauline (Greene) Wible. Mr. Wible graduated from Sebring McKinley High School and Kent State University.
He was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber for 35 years as a real estate manager, retiring in 1986.
Mr. Wible was a member of First Christian Church. He was a life member of BPO Elks #467, VFW Post 1036, and American Legion Post 166. He was a former member of Sleepy Hollow Country Club, and was an avid golfer, winning many trophies. He was also a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.
Mr. Wible was a U.S. Air Force Pilot during W.W.II, serving with the 442nd Airborne Troop Carrier. While in the Airforce, he graduated from Comptroller School in Selma, Alabama. He flew the Berlin Airlift in the European Theatre. He retired from the Airforce as a Major.
Survivors include his wife, Jean A. (Loyd) Wible, whom he married in 1945; two daughters, Nancy (Eugene) Freconna of Alliance, and Leslie Wible, of Alliance; two granddaughters, Gina Freconna of Chicago, Illinois, and Dana (Robert) Fisk of Alliance; and two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Pam Bruno and Sue DeHoff officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
