Carol A. Showers, age 67, of Homeworth, died at 7:30 a.m. August 8, 2007 at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born October 30, 1939 in Canton to Ray and Doris (Strong) Johnson and was a lifelong area resident of the Alliance vicinity.
Mrs. Showers attended the former Marlboro High School and Alliance Baptist Temple. She was employed by American Steel Foundries until her retirement in 2001 after 26 years service as a transfer car operator. Mrs. Showers enjoyed and loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (John) Brown of Homeworth and Lisa (Joshua) Nordquest of Homeworth; three sons, Melvin "Jerry" Showers of Kensington, Bill (Brenda) Showers of Alliance and Robert Showers of Homeworth; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Gary (Ruth) Johnson of Akron and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Showers was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Melvin L. Showers whom she married June 24, 1956 and who died December 22, 1985; and sister Sandy Kolar.
Private services will be held at a later date.
