Carol A. Penrod, age 65, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord at 6:51 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Aultman Hospital.
She was born February 10, 1944 in Alliance to Earnest A. and Marie Grace (Neiswonger) Jones.
Carol was a 1962 graduate of Alliance High School and was owner of the former Penrod's Curiosity Shop.
She was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple where she was in the choir and was a former Sunday School Teacher. She was a former member of the Alliance Chamber of Commerce and the Alliance Garden Club. She loved singing and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Aimee (Thomas) Harper of Alliance, Gretchen (Peter) Buhrow of Strongsville, Heidi (Jeff) Matthews of North Canton and Eric Penrod of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Allie, Joey, Emily and Sarah; and brothers, Earnest A. (Patricia) Jones III of Beloit and John (Dolly) Jones of Jacksonville, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, R. Bruce Penrod whom she married June 1, 1963 and who died January 2, 1997; and her sister Janet Szeiff.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor John Tucker officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
