Carrie G. Givens, age 59, of Alliance, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Cleveland Clinic.
God received the most beautiful, sweet, magnificent angel, a woman of extraordinary love, generosity faith and compassion. We cannot imagine life without the joy she brings, but know she is in a much better place. We will forever miss our Dear Mother, Wife, Nana, Daughter, Sister, and Friend. She has always been able to soothe others hearts through their pain and never complained about her own.
Carrie was born in Alliance, Ohio on October 5, 1955 to her loving mother Carol (Unger) and the late Charles Grove; she graduated from Alliance High School, and received her BA in Art Education from Ohio Wesleyan University.
Carrie was a passionate Art Teacher at Waterloo and Alliance City Schools for 26 years. She enjoyed reading her Bible, cooking, traveling, biking, gardening, yoga, her four legged friends and being the most amazing Nana to her little ones. She was a member of Grace Community Church of Alliance.
Carrie was involved in The Alliance Woman's Club, Sorosis, and Alliance Garden Club and was a board member of Stuckey Interfaith.
Carrie has been married for 22 years to her devoted husband, Reggie Givens. They fulfilled each other's lives with happiness, travel, faith and family. Together they celebrated life with their four girls, their spouses, grandchildren, close family, and caring friends.
She was a joy to every person that she ever met, she genuinely loved God, people, and living life wholeheartedly. Carrie made every moment count. She gave freely, and loved completely. We will forever miss her sparkle.
Carrie is survived by her mother, Carol Grove; her cherished husband, Reggie Givens; beloved children, Brooke (Aaron) Riley, Ellie (Pete) Opperman, Leah (Matt) Lowdermilk, Heather Shank Givens (Brian Andrews); her precious grandchildren, Mackenzi, Keegan, Conlin, and Aisley; close sister, Beth (Dave) Mitchell, brother-in-law, Rick (Sherryle) Givens, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Carrie is deeply loved and will be eternally missed by everyone. We all long for the day we meet again in Heaven.
She was preceded in death by her dear father, Charles D. Grove.
