Catherine Jane Carr Watson

Catherine Jane Carr Watson, 71, passed away at AlterCare of Alliance on July 8, 2023, holding the hand of her beloved husband of 48 years, Ed.

Cathie was born October 24, 1951 in Alliance, Ohio, daughter of Francis “Jim” Carr and Carol Greenawalt Carr.  A 1969 graduate of Alliance High School, she attended Mount Union College and the University of Akron.

Catherine married her husband, Edwin Watson, April 10, 1976.  They lived in Denver, Colorado for 15 years where she was employed in the trucking industry for W.J. Digby and Navajo Chief Express.  They returned to Alliance in 1988 where she worked at the Alliance Chapter of the American Red Cross as the assistant director for 23 years until her retirement.

A life-long member of the Episcopal Church, Cathie attended Trinity Episcopal in Alliance and Church of our Savior in Salem.  She was a church Worship Leader at both parishes, and as an active member of the Altar Guild at Trinity.

She is survived by her husband, Edwin; stepchildren, Scott, Matthew, and Molly, of Denver, Colorado; sister, Deborah Carr Martin, of Alliance; brother, William (Joni) Carr, of Beloit; nieces, Amanda Carr of Homeworth, and Kelly Carr (Jay) Alstadt of Lakewood; and her very close cousins, Richard (Joan) Keeper of Canton, and Susan Keeper (Ken) Yoder of Hartville.

The service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church on Friday, July 14th at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Jon M. Coventry officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Trinity Episcopal Discretionary Fund or the Stark County Humane Society, 1801 Mahoning NE, Canton OH   44705.
