Cecil W. Craven age 82, of Alliance, died at 1:11 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born February 23, 1930, in Alliance, to Cecil G. and Bessie (Baylor) Craven.
Cecil was a graduate of Louisville High School and was formerly employed by Transue and Williams Stamping plant as a tool and die maker, retiring in 1999.
He was a Corporal in the United States Army having served in Germany. Cecil enjoyed boating, fishing, water skiing and gas/steam engine shows.
He was a volunteer fireman for Washington Township for 15 years, member of the Washington Township Historical Society, Homeworth Masonic Lodge, for 45 years, Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, Knox Antiques Engine Club, One Room School House Society, Sebring American Legion, Alliance Eagles Club and the Alliance Senior Center.
Cecil is survived by his two daughters, Patricia DeArmond of Orlando, Fla., and Jennifer A. Reel of Alliance; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter, November McMasters; eleven step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley Little, who befriended him for the last three years, provided him with comfort, fun, companionship, and new experiences.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy E. Craven who died July 20, 2009; son, Thomas E. Craven; brother, Frank Craven; sister, Martha Mickey; and a step-granddaughter, Tabatha L. Penny.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013, at Maximo Zion Church with Pastor David Ashbrook officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
