Celia Jonas, age 93, of Alliance, passed away at 9:43 a.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born February 3, 1920, in Brooklyn, New York, to Sam and Gussie (Beckman) Weitzman.
Mrs. Jonas formerly volunteered at Alliance Community Hospital, logging more than 2500 hours of service.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen (Stephen) Meyers of Oldsmar, FL; son, Stan (Nancy) Jonas of Canton; grandchildren, Dr. Sarah (Rabbi Daniel) Schweber of Scarsdale, New York, Adam (Nicole) Meyers of Wellesley, MA, Jennifer (Tom) Webb of Highland, IN, Amy (Eric) Burton of Silverdale, WA and Allison (Ron) Eggert of Jackson Township; and great-grandchildren, Natalie and Alexandra Schweber, Layton and Benjamin Meyers, Jordan and Brooklynn Burton and Madison Webb.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Robert R. Jonas.
A private family service will be held in New York at a later date.
