Charles E. Brown, age 78, of Alliance died at 8:25 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born December 29, 1931, in Alliance, Ohio to Thomas E. and Martha J. (Foith) Brown.
A 1950 graduate of Alliance High School, Charles was agent/owner of the Charles Brown State Farm Insurance Agency since 1964.
Charles was formerly active in the Marlington Schools to pass the bond issue to build the middle school, and helped raise money for the FIRST Robotics Team at Alliance High School from 2002 to 2005. He was an accomplished wood worker, enjoyed the outdoors, traveling abroad and wintering in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was a United States Air Force Aircraft Mechanic stationed in Japan, servicing aircraft.
Charles is survived by his wife, Helen Ilene (Wood) Brown, whom he married February 13, 1955; daughter, Christine (Michael) Hetherington of Alliance; grandson, Michael J. Hetherington; and granddaughter, Kate A. Hetherington.
Preceded him in death were his parents.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Rosen officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be at Mount Union Cemetery.
