Charles R. Copeland, age 79, of Alliance, died at 7:45 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at his home.
He was born March 13, 1934, in Streetsboro, Ohio, to William K. and Grace (Dougan) Copeland.
Charles attended Alliance High School and worked as a forklift operator at Alliance Manufacturing for 20 years and a maintenance foreman at Valley Forge in Salem for 32 years.
He was also co-owner of Pure Gas Station on Union Ave. and Oxford St. which had the first automatic car wash in town, and co-owner of Clearview Antenna.
Charles loved hunting, fishing, softball, and watching his grandsons play baseball. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Oak Grove Golf Course.
He was a veteran of the United States Army having served with the 33rd Medium Tank Battalion in the 3rd Armor Division in Ansbach, Germany.
He is survived by his wife, Georgette (Tormasi) Copeland, whom he married November 18, 1956; son, Rex A. Copeland of Alliance; grandchildren, Kristi (T.J.) Sedei and Jennifer Copeland, both of Alliance, Kelly J. Presley of North Carolina and Angela M. Presley of Alliance; great-grandchildren, Tyler Fish-Copeland, Dylan Copeland, Lexi Sedei and Presleighanne Bagnall and a sister, Phyllis Dawson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kimberly Copeland; and brother, William R. Copeland.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2013 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Sams officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
