Charles Henry Freeman, age 83, of Alliance, Ohio transitioned into eternal rest surrounded by his family on Friday, June 17, 2022 in the comfort of his home.
He was born on March 11, 1939, in Mt Pleasant Ohio, to Mary Rowena Parker Freeman and Russell Leroy Freeman Jr. He was a U.S Army Veteran, being honorably discharged. He was a faithful member at tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed cooking for his loving family every Sunday, and for anyone who asked him too. He also enjoyed fishing, planting flowers all around his home, and attending sporting events. He graduated in 1958 and was a star football player, being inducted into the Hopedale football Hall-fame in 2010. He retired from the American Steel Foundries in 1994 after working 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Leroy Freeman Jr. and Mary Rowena Parker Freeman; children, Charles Freeman Jr. and Dedra Freeman; sisters, Adora Bushman, Beatrice Sue Taylor, and Blanch JoAnn Freeman; brothers, Williams Bill Bushman, Curtis Taylor, Darrell Taylor, Mack Freeman, and Russell Freeman; and special nephew, Jim Bushman Sr.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving devoted wife, Phyllis Jean Freeman; brother, Donald Freeman of Baltimore Maryland; sons, Daniel Carter and Ricky (Ann) Freeman Sr. Of Alliance Ohio; daughters, Tearna (Don) Young and Lucretia Wright; his grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye, La’Trisha (Daniel) O’Connor of Phoenix Arizona, Robert Lee IV (Markesha) Fountain, Robi’On Fountain of Clarksville Tennessee, Cherequa Freeman, of Massillon OH, Darnell Freeman, Dezaray Wright, Daniel Carter, Ricky Jr. Freeman, Cam’Ron Freeman, Tearna Freeman of Warren OH, Shealese Freeman, Nicole Hicks of Alliance, Michael (Erin) Colvin of Alliance OH, Mathew Kirksey of Akron OH, La’Porshia Freeman of Waukegan, IL, and Raisha Cundiff Akron OH; he also leaves behind 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews. He had two great friends growing up and they were still friends to the day he transitioned, David Fransico, and Donnie Redman.
A celebration of life service for family and friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 2nd at Feed My Sheep Ministries. A viewing for the public will be held at 12:00 p.m.
