Charles L. Loar, age 88, of Alliance, passed away at his home on June 24, 2021 after an extended illness.

He was born on March 6, 1933 in Philippi, WV to George and Ruth (Alfred) Loar.

Charles was the owner of Brittain’s in Alliance for many years. He was a member of Alliance Baptist Temple, American Legion Post 166 and the 40+ Motorcycle Club. Charles enjoyed boating, riding his motorcycle and vacationing on cruise ships. He served honorably in the United States Army.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Rachel (Vance) Loar, whom he married on March 11, 1953; his children, Debra Loar and Danny (Char) Loar; grandchildren, Christy (Jason) Definbaugh, Nick (Amanda) Loar, Julia (Reginald) Wooten, and Nonae Billiter; nine great-grandchildren, Stacy, Jacob, Dakota, Reggie, Gauge, Brianna, Alatris and Morgan; and one great-great-granddaughter, Alice Grace Blagg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dianna Lynn Loar; great-grandson, Zach Definbaugh; and brother, George Burten Loar.

A private family service will be held at Joseph’s Chapel in Bellington, West Virginia on July 3, 2021.
