Charles Luca, age 92, of Alliance, died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Community Care Center.
He was born December 28, 1920 in Alliance, Ohio to George and Julia (Matiyku) Luca.
A graduate of Alliance High School, Mr. Luca worked as a cost estimator, engineer and in sales for Alliance Machine Company for 46 years.
Chuck was a great friend of many and loved his family.
He was honored for being a 50 year member of Christ United Methodist Church, Chuck served as an usher for many years.
Mr. Luca was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp. and a U.S. Navy WWII veteran, serving in the European Theatre and received the Medaille Du Jubilea�� from the French government for serving in the Normandy invasion. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #166, VFW Post #1036, William Penn, Conrad Masonic Lodge #271 and F and A M of Alliance.
Survivors include his wife, June L. (Graham) Luca, whom he married June 5, 1948; children, Carol Garland, of Ashland, OH, Nancy (Craig) Korver, of Van Nuys, CA, and Dianne (Kenneth) Young, of Alliance, OH; six grandchildren, Kristen (Shane) Fano, Tyler Young, Trey Scott, Suzanne Peeples, Debra (Randy) Shenberger, and Robert Miller; six great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, sisters, Julia Jenkins and Margaret Faulkner, both of Alliance, OH and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Mike, Nick, George and Steve.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Karl Stonebraker officiating. Friends may call from Noon to 2 p.m. before the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
