Charles Virgil McCammon, age 89, of Alliance, passed away at 5:50 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born January 21, 1926, in Alliance, Ohio, to Charles E. and Josephine (Sylvester) McCammon.
Virgil was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and for the past 60 years, was owner/operator of McCammon Heating and Air Conditioning, which is now operated by his daughter. He was a member of the Lexington United Methodist Church where he served as a lay minister and a trustee. Virgil was also a member of United Commercial Travelers and a charter member of the Lexington Ruritans.
He enjoyed tennis, waterskiing, playing in his church softball league, racquetball, where he had a B Class #1 ranking and golf, where he played in many leagues at Tannenhauf Golf Club.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Wilma (Benedict) McCammon; daughters, Cynthia (James) Vernon of Salem and Amy McCammon of Hartville; sons, Kenneth McCammon of Alliance and Lee (Chris) McCammon of Beloit; grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy, Brad and Malissa; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild on the way; and sister, Lois Webb, of Massillon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeane Miller.
Service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Hayward officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
