Charles R. Mead, age 73 of Alliance, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born June 11, 1945 to Charles R. and Delores J. (Drinkhouse) Chester. At the age of 9, Chuck was adopted by his step-father, John P. Mead.
A veteran of the U. S. Army, Chuck served with the 281st Military Police Academy in Vietnam. Following his discharge he pursued the same line of work becoming an officer on the Alliance Police Department, but later moved south where he retired from Graham, North Carolina Police Department in 2000 as a Detective, moving back to Alliance at that time to care for his ailing parents.
His favorite pastimes included golf and porch-sitting, both weather permitting, as well as woodworking.
He was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church and a life member of the Alliance BPOE Elks #467.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Susanne (Krueger) Mead, whom he married in 2005; brother-in-law, Adam Krueger (Thomas Fenner); niece, Elizabeth (Dustin) Bricker, nephew, Joel (Jamie) Krueger; great-nephew Joshua Bricker; and great-nieces, Lauren and Ella Bricker.
Chuck is also survived by his fur-babies, Bailey and Sophia.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Special thanks to all for the care and support provided by family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers during Chuck's illness, including the Doctors, nurses, aides, social workers and therapists at University Hospital, VA Wade Park Rehab, Community Care Center, and Aultman Alliance Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Angela Storer officiating. Friends may call from 3-4 p.m., prior to the service at the church.
