Charles L. "Charlie" Sammons, age 78, of Alliance passed away at 5:40 p.m., Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center.
He was born April 20, 1938, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, to Orville and Thelma (Carrol) Sammons.
Charlie had retired from Chrysler Corporation in Twinsburg as a stamper for 35 years and was a member of the United Auto Workers union. He also drove school bus as a substitute for Marlington Local Schools.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, bluegrass music and spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Viola Vivian (Lewis) Sammons of Alliance, children, Gregory Sammons, Teresa Sammons Nelson and Daniel Sammons (Carrie Mason), all of Alliance; grandchildren, John (Ericka) Mann, Zachary Nelson, Andrew (Erika) Sammons, Kyle (Samantha) Sammons, Ray (Denae) Krepps, Tyler Sammons, Alisha Sammons (Jack Furry), Dylan Sammons and Ashton Mason; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Jim Sammons of West Virginia and Otis Sammons of Kentucky; and best friend, Ava, his dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Earnest Sammons and Leroy Sammons, infant brother, Junie Sammons; infant sister, Sabra Sammons; and sister, Lillian Sammons.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, June 24, 2016, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home co-officiated by Pastor Jimmy Holbrook and Pastor Ken Edenfield officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., prior to the service. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
