Charles "Charlie" Schreiner, age 83 of Alliance, died at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday January 19, 2005 at Altercare of Alliance following a brief illness.
Mr. Schreiner was born August 5, 1921 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Michael and Edna (Searight) Schreiner, and lived in Pennsylvania until moving to Alliance in 1975.
He was the owner of Schreiner's Garage until his retirement when he moved to Alliance.
Charlie was a member of the Robinson Twp. Pa. Lions and past president; member of Homeworth Lions and past president and secretary. He was a member of Elks 467, American Legion 1066, Crafton Lodge #653 and life member of 56 years; member of Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, York Rite Tadmor Shrine, Alliance Shrine Club and secretary/treasurer for 15 years; he was also a member of the Flag unit and driver for the Alliance Transportation Unit, making many trips to Erie and Cincinnati Shriners Hospitals.
Mr. Schreiner was also a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater during W.W.II.
Above all, Charlie was a wonderful husband and father who leaves behind his wife, Marguerite E. (Leonard) Schreiner, whom he married July 17, 1946; two daughters, Charlynn Schreiner of Alliance and Cyndia Schreiner of Alliance and future son-in-law Paul Newburn of New Garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Peters officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, and a half-hour prior to the service. Masonic Services will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alliance Shriners Transportation Unit, or Erie Childrens Hospital.
