Charles Madison "Red" Welling, age 83 of Alliance, formerly of Sebring and East Liverpool, died at 2:45 p.m. Sept. 3, 2004 at Altercare of Alliance.
Mr. Welling was born Aug. 13, 1921 in Aleppo, PA to Jesse and Mabel (Rutan) Welling and resided most of his life in Sebring and East Liverpool.
He retired in 1981 from Sterling China in Wellsville, Ohio after working as a kiln placer.
A. U.S. Army W.W. II veteran, Mr. Welling was a member of D.A.V. Chapter 50 and the American Legion Post 166, both of Alliance. He enjoyed hunting and entertaining his friends and family playing his mandolin.
Survivors include his ex-wife Lavinia (Riggs) Welling of Salem, one daughter Mrs. Eugene (Sandra Kay) Wade of Bradenton, Florida, one son Larry V. (Kathy) Welling of Sebring, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Mildred Ward, and two brothers Sheldon Welling, and Carl Welling.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Peters officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
