Charles H. Wilson

Charles H. Wilson, age 83, of Canton, formerly of Alliance, passed away at 8:33 a.m., Saturday, September 3, 2016 at his daughters home.
He was born November 24, 1932, in Janesville, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, to Wilhelmina M. Wilson.
A 1952 graduate of Alliance High School, Charles had retired from Transue and Williams after 35 years of service.
Charles was a member of New Apostolic Church in Akron. He was a member and volunteer at Alliance Senior Citizens Center, and also volunteered with the Alliance Chamber of Commerce.
He enjoyed roller skating at the former Rollerland in Alliance. He played roller hockey and was a speed skater, having earned two 1st place medals and two 3rd place medals as a speed skater. He competed in statewide competitions in speed skating and roller hockey. He was also an avid bowler having bowled in the senior league at the former Parkway Lanes and College Plaza Lanes.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Kimberly K. Mackintosh and son, Craig C. Wilson, both of Canton; four grandchildren, Danael N. Volpe of Canton, Daylin A. Mackintosh of Columbus, Dustin A. Mackintosh of Columbus and Nicholas Sheridan of Missouri; a great-grandson, Armani Vincent Volpe; and two great-granddaughters, Aria Louise Volpe and Hazel Grace Sheridan.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, John J. Alviani; and his wife of 50 years, Mary L. (Bichsel) Wilson who died February 27, 2007.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday the 9th at the funeral home. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park in the garden of the Apostles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alliance Senior Citizens Center 602 W. Vine St. Alliance, OH 44601.
