Chick Willard II

d. March 30, 2011

Charles Edward Willard II, age 67, of Deerfield, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at his home.
He was born June 18, 1943, in East Rochester, Ohio, to Harley and Leota (Riddle) Willard.
A 1963 graduate of West Branch High School, Mr. Willard was employed by General Motors in Lordstown until retiring in 1994.
Charles was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Lake Milton, an honorary member of the VFW in Orlando, Florida, and member of the UAW Local 1112.
Chick was a Mr. Fix-it and enjoyed a challenge. He designed and created many projects, built decks, garages, remodeled homes and has built dune buggies, boats, snowmobiles, a hovercraft and custom golf carts. Chick built a 1933 Plymouth Street Rod, winning numerous trophies and was featured in MATCO Tool calendar. He was in the process of building a "1930" Graham Paige street rod and enjoyed cruising with his street rod friends.
In honor of Chick's passion, we encourage his friends to drive their classic cars, street rods, motorcycles or cool rides to both the calling hours and funeral.
Chick and Karen enjoyed his retirement by spending the winters in Florida for sixteen years and enjoyed boating on Berlin Lake in the summers in Ohio. Chick was like a brother to Karen's many brothers and sisters for more than 50 years. He was proud of his sons and their families and his pride and joy were his granddaughters and great-granddaughter.
Survivors include his wife, Karen L. (Ellsworth) Willard, whom he married Oct. 24, 1964; two sons, Lee (Rhonda) Willard of Beloit, and Lance (Wendi) Willard of Alliance; three grandchildren, Lindsay, Haley and Becki; one great-granddaughter, Kinsey; brother, Ken Willard of Alliance; sister, Jan (John) DiGenova of Alliance; and many nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents.
